Dr. Mara Canizzaro is a licensed acupuncturist in the state of California and is a Nationally Board-Certified Diplomat of Oriental Medicine. She specializes in pain management, stress reduction, women’s health, sleep disorders, digestion, facial rejuvenation with gua sha, Ayurveda, and mind-body balance.

She received both her Masters and Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  Prior to medicine, Dr. Mara earned a degree at Harvard Divinity School studying the intersection and evolution of religion and medicine in Tibet, India, and China from historical times to the modern day.

In addition to her deep love of nature and hiking on Mount Tamalpais, Dr. Mara finds great meaning and joy in sharing this incredible medicine and all it has to offer with her patients. With each session, she will inform her patients about the choice of specific acupuncture points and meridians, explaining how the treatment is tailored to meet individual patterns and symptoms.

She currently lives in Sausalito with her husband and many flourishing houseplants.
